PRE-CORONA VS POST-CORONA: MASKS PART OF THE ‘NEW NORMAL’

While masks ensure our safety, as well as the safety of others, they also hide the conundrum of emotions and non-verbal cues that are seen in conversations.

They make it harder for people to display a whole range of emotions including happiness, discomfort or sadness, as well as the ability to easily connect with others.

JOURNALING OUR THOUGHTS

Have you ever tried journaling??

I’ve found journaling to be incredibly valuable over the last two years. Although I’m not able to do it every day, my monthly entries help me to pencil in my thoughts, frame my memories, express my feelings and come out of it feeling positive and grateful for all that we have.

MY TOP 5 TIPS TO A HEALTHY HEART

Manage your junk food intake:
Chocolates can be tempting on Valentine’s Day, but try to eat them in moderation! Being overweight can increase your risk of heart disease, so make sure you stick to a well-balanced diet, low in fat and high in fruit and vegetables.

Get your five a day:
Despite being Valentine’s Day, chocolate covered strawberries are not exactly what I have in mind for a healthy heart! Try to eat five portions of fruit and vegetables a day, add dried fruit to breakfast cereal, and add vegetables to your pasta sauces and curries etc.

THE NEED FOR SOME ‘FAMILY TIME’

As a wife and a mother of 3, family time is incredibly precious to me. I cherish all the special moments we are able to spend together, and make sure to prioritise this time within my week.

I truly believe that family time is an essential factor that helps to create strong bonds, love, and connection among family members. Families who share everyday activities together form solid, emotional ties as well improve their ability to adapt to situations together.

It also develops positive behaviors and encourages open communication with children, as well as helping build their confidence.

JUST WHEN THE CATERPILLAR THOUGHT HER LIFE WAS OVER, SHE BEGAN TO FLY

Change can often be tough, but just like the butterfly, positive change and growth can often come from a great deal of darkness and discomfort.

It is time to let go of fear, worry and unhealthy habits, and to embrace those necessary changes in life, to flourish and be the best version of yourself.

A GLASS OF COPPER WATER EVERY MORNING

Every person may have a different opinion on how they start their morning, but I usually start by drinking a glass of ‘Copper Water’

So what exactly is copper water? You can make your own copper water by storing drinking water in a copper vessel overnight, which charges the water with the mineral. Have one glass in the morning when you wake up, on an empty stomach, to really see the benefits.

Copper is a trace mineral that is known to aid digestion, improve your immune system, help with anti-ageing, boost weight loss, improve brain health, joint health, heart health and much more.

MOVE TO FEEL GOOD

Did you know that exercise releases chemicals in the body that make us feel good?

It is also linked to better sleep, reduced stress and anxiety, and improved memory and cognition! One of my goals for the new year has been to stick to my fitness goals, but I understand that at times, finding the motivation to start your fitness journey can be difficult or daunting.

LET’S TALK EMOTIONAL HEALTH

Your emotional health is an important part of your overall health, although this can often be overlooked. People who are emotionally healthy are in control of their thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and are able to cope better with life’s challenges. They are able to keep problems in perspective and bounce back from setbacks, allowing them to realise their full potential.

A good way of achieving or maintaining emotional health is to strive for balance. Find a good balance between work and play, activity and rest. Make time for the things you enjoy and focus on the positive aspects in your life. This can have a rejuvenating effect on your outlook and leave you re-energised and ready to meet any challenges ahead.
